The results were published in the New England Journal of Medicine and showed people lost an average of 15kg on semaglutide compared with 2.6kg without.

In January, the comedian told The Mirror: ‘I did put on a lot of lockdown weight. People will think, “What the hell has he eaten because he has ballooned!”

‘I have been eating any old s**t. I think I have put on about three stone. You see skinny people on Instagram and they only have a slice of banana bread but I was eating the whole lot.’

Alan knew something was amiss when he put on his 36-inch waist jeans and couldn’t fit them over his stomach.

‘I rang Rob up last year and said, “I am fat!” He said, “I am fat!” So we sent each other pictures and both agreed we were fat. We decided whoever had lost the least amount of weight by November 2nd would pay for dinner.’
