Movie producers on Alec Baldwin ’s film Rust are offering counselling to cast and crew members following the accidental shooting on set yesterday.
On Thursday, the 63-year-old actor fired a prop gun on the set of the Western, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, and seriously injuring director Joel Souza, 48, in the harrowing incident.
Rust Movies Productions LLC confirmed they had halted filming indefinitely, and were ensuring the wellbeing of those involved.
“The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
“We have halted production on the film for an undetermined period of time and are fully cooperating with the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigation,” they added.

“We will be providing counseling services to everyone connected to the film as we work to process this awful event.”
The movie was being shot at the Bonanza Creek ranch outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Sante Fe Sheriff’s Department said the Oscar-nominated actor had been questioned and released.
“Mr. Baldwin was questioned by investigators and released. No arrests or charges have been filed,” a Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department official said.

“This investigation remains open and active. No charges have been filed in regard to this incident. Witnesses continue to be interviewed by detectives,” the statement added.
Hutchins was rushed to the University of New Mexico Hospital by helicopter where she later died.
The film follows the story of outlaw Harlan Rust, played by Baldwin, who goes on the run with his grandson after the 13-year-old accidentally kills another man.

The 30 Rock star also serves as producer on the movie, which was written by Souza and also stars Travis Fimmel, Brady Noon, Frances Fisher, and Jensen Ackles.
Rust was being shot on the same 2,000-acre ranch where 3:10 to Yuma and Cowboys & Aliens were filmed.
Police said the incident remains an “active investigation”, and pictures of a distraught Baldwin, taken after he was questioned by officers, have been circulating on Twitter.
