She shared on social media that she didn't get as much time as she would have liked with him, adding she was "saddened" to not be able to attend dad Clifford's funeral.

When she broke the news about her mum she wrote: "Today I dedicate Valentine's Day to my beautiful, wonderful mother Maria who passed away from liver and lung cancer.

"Yesterday my family and I celebrated her amazing life and laid her to rest in a beautiful ceremony she would have been proud of," she said at the time.

The star continued: "Thank you mummy for giving me the strength to move forward in the knowledge that you're ok and with God in Heaven now. I will always remember you and try to make you proud. I love you mum."

Alison reminisced over the effort her mum put into Christmas, adding that she got up in the middle of the night to prepare the vegetables.

She talked about how her mum would prepare her Christmas dinners

"I’ll be honest, I just do the vegetables and gravy because I can’t be bothered. My mum gets up at like 2 am to cook a turkey. It’s crazy. I’m not doing that. I need my beauty sleep," she told OK! magazine a few years ago.

Alison recently shared how childhood bullying about her weight has left her living in fear over people's comments.

The word "elephant" is specifically triggering for her, and she says if she hears someone mentioning elephants she panics that they are talking about her.

She explained: "At school, when boys made nasty comments about my size, it mostly didn't affect me because comedy and retorts were my armour.

"I now though have PTSD over being repeatedly called an elephant. One time, a boy said, 'I didn't realise elephants were brown' and it hurt me on another level."

"Now, whenever I hear people talking about elephants, I panic, thinking they're talking about me."

"I went on safari and was looking to see if anyone was comparing the elephant with me.

"I haven't got rid of that fear. Maybe I need a bit of therapy," she added.
