Battlefield 2042 – it may not be dropping as soon as you think (pic: EA)
Multiple rumours point towards a delay for Battlefield 2042, although its unclear if it’ll be for weeks or months.
This year has already seen numerous delays, from games big and small, with Dying Light 2 announcing its change of release date this this week. But supposedly it won’t be the only game to suffer a similar fate.
Following Dying Light 2’s delay, VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb suggested that another game would announce a delay this week, but since he gave no hint as to which one there was nothing more to go on.
Now however, three separate sources have suggested that the game in question is Battlefield 2042, although it’s unclear how far exactly it’ll be pushed back.
Grubb has proven very reliable in terms of rumours this year and so too has Tom Henderson, who says that his sources suggest a reveal of several weeks, until late November.
YouTuber DEALER and XboxEra co-founder Nick Baker don’t have quite the same track record, but they have proven accurate in the past and they claim that the game will actually be delayed into 2022.
#BATTLEFIELD2042 Delay Update:
To be delayed by several weeks and not months which conflicts with the other rumors, but it’s what I’ve heard.
Late Nov 2021 is currently flying around.

What this may mean is simply that EA hasn’t decided yet and while there is a delay announcement coming the decision on what the new release date will be hasn’t been made yet.

There are already other signs that Battlefield 2042 may have been delayed, as a promised beta test still hasn’t confirmed a date, despite earlier rumours suggesting an early September start.
The game’s third major mode, Hazard Zone, is also still yet to be announced, with no indication of when that might take place.
Officially, the game’s release date is still October 15, although that’s only if you buy the more expensive Gold or Ultimate Editions. The standard edition releases a week later, on October 22… or at least that was the original idea.
