Carey Mulligan stunned in a vibrant pink bustier gown and matching cape at the Met Gala in New York on Monday night.

The actress, 36, looked exquisite in the bright Valentino dress as she arrived at the star-studded fashion event.

Famed for her roles in films The Great Gatsby, Promising Young Woman and most recently, The Dig, Carey looked every inch the movie star in her dazzling outfit.

Carey completed her ensemble with a single diamond earring and wore her hair in a simple ponytail.

The look even included a matching pink face covering, to ensure Carey was kept safe, as well as stylish.

She posed with her hands in the gown’s pockets and looked over her shoulder at the cameras, while making her grand entrance.

The star made her way to the festivities with actress Whoopi Goldberg, 65, and Valentino designer Pier Paolo Piccioli, 54.

Carey’s petite frame was perfectly shown by her gown’s corset-inspired bustier while the elongating cape gave her look the wow factor. 

The mum-of-two, who shares children Evelyn and Wilfred with her musician husband Marcus Mumford, of Mumford & Sons, enjoyed a night off from parenting duties. 

The couple, who reportedly reside between London and Devon, said living in the countryside was a ‘good place to be’ during the pandemic.

The Met Gala, usually held on the first Monday in May but was delayed by Covid this year, was also attended by the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Kendall Jenner, Sienna Miller, and Megan Fox.

This year’s theme was American Independence, with stars from all over the globe taking to the red carpet in their show stopping outfits.

Kim Kardashian divided fashion fans by wearing an all black ensemble by Balenciaga, which covered her entire face and body.

Despite Kim not showing any skin or facial features, it was still undeniably the reality star underneath the thick black clothing.
