Call The Midwife star Megan Cusack was rushed to hospital after suffering a fall at last night's TRIC Awards.

The actress, who plays Nancy Corrigan in the BBC drama has been left on crutches after having 17 stitches and has her fans about her ordeal on Instagram.

Sharing snaps of herself holding up her crutches, she wrote on her Instagram Story: "17 stitches later I'm home."

She added: "I also finally be that id who has crutches."

The star giggled as she shared her disbelief over ending up in A&E after heading to the star-studded event in London.

She was joined at the emergency room by her co-star Fenella Woolgar, who wore a blue face mask as she pushed her friend's wheelchair through the Urgent Care Centre.

Megan dubbed her pal 'Nurse Fenella' after she cared for her.

Megan was also pictured being pushed in a wheelchair with a painful-looking injury to her ankle. The stitches were visible.

Before her fall, she'd been pictured posing on the red carpet at the glitzy event wearing a blue psychedelic print dress and a pair of heels.

But not wanting to miss the party, she headed back to the event after her trip to A&E and was later seen being pushed in a wheelchair.

Megan even cracked joked about her fall, sharing a video on Instagram that she entitled "Before it all went downhill", which showed her posing up on the red carpet.

It has been reported that Megan injured herself by falling down a set of stairs.

Call The Midwife had been nominated for Best Drama at the awards, but lost out to The Crown.
