Caroline Flack’s friend Natalie Pinkham says Flackstock festival will serve as final sendoff

Caroline Flack’s close friend Natalie Pinkham is hoping the Flackstock festival will serve as a final sendoff to the star after she missed out on having a memorial for her.

The star-studded event will celebrate the late presenter’s life with ‘comedy, dance and music’ and will take place on Monday 25 July 2022 in the grounds of Englefield House, Pangbourne, Berkshire.

Former Love Island host Caroline took her own life on February 15, 2020, aged 40.

The event was organised by Natalie Pinkham, Leigh Francis and Dawn O’Porter after they grieved Caroline’s death during lockdown.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, Natalie said: ‘The lockdown happened straight after she died. We had a funeral but we didn’t have a proper memorial.

‘Her death has been hard to process and we had to do it on our own. It’s a coming together of all her friends and family. I still find it difficult to talk about her in the past tense.

She added: ‘I really hope it is something for her mum to focus on but most importantly, it raises funds for mental health as well as being a fitting tribute to her.’

Natalie told how she turned to a grief counsellor following Caroline’s passing who she says has ‘helped [her] a lot’.

Money raised from Flackstock will be split equally between the charities Choose Love, Mind, Samaritans and Charlie Waller Trust – four worthy outlets that held a special place in Caroline’s heart.

Caroline’s mother Christine said of Flackstock: ‘My Caroline was never more herself or happier than at a music festival with her sister and her friends.

‘Flackstock is the wonderful idea of those who knew her best and the perfect way to remember her singing, dancing and most of all laughing.

‘Not only is Flackstock the most positive way to honour Carrie, but charities that she loved will benefit from the proceeds.

‘A big thank you to everyone involved for all their hard work – to Natalie for the mad idea, Giles Cooper Entertainment and Englefield House who saved the day, Live Nation and to all the brilliant sponsors.

‘My family are so proud that so many people who knew Carrie loved her so very much.’

Ian O’Reilly, Head of Community & Events Fundraising at Mind, said: ‘Every donation that Mind receives through Flackstock will allow us to be there for even more people when they need us.

This includes through services like the Mind Infoline, legal line and our online peer support community for adults, Side by Side.

‘The money will also enable us to continue to campaign to improve services and provide information and support.

‘We are honoured to be involved and we can’t wait for the festival to get started.’
