According to the film description, the engagement party will mark the final night together for the star-crossed lovers.

Deadline reported that the movie is based on Graham Swift’s 2016 novel of the same name, with the script being written by Alice Birch (Normal People) and directed by Eva Husson (Hannah TV series).

Husson said to the platform that reading the script for the first time ‘was a culmination of all that I’m obsessed with in life: writing, sensuality, and pure cinema.’

‘I finished the script in tears, not from sadness, but because it cracked me open, like the most honest works do.’
