Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent ‘QUITS soap after 17 years’

Brooke Vincent has reportedly quit Coronation Street to concentrate on motherhood. 

The 29-year-old actress, who has starred as Sophie Webster on the soap since 2004, left for maternity leave two years ago and plans not to return to the cobbles – according to The Sun. 

The publication alleges that the mother-of-two is now set to concentrate on her sons.

A source said: ‘Everyone thought Brooke would be coming back to the soap but her contract ended two years ago and there are no talks about bringing her back on.

‘She is making good money from her own company and from various other Instagram posts – and has Kean’s [Bryan] impressive football salary – so she isn’t keen to get back to the soap’s gruelling schedule.’

Brooke has her own company Oh So B, which sells diaries and planners.

They added:  ‘Brooke has mentioned that she might do a bit of acting work towards the end of this year, but it won’t be on the cobbles.’ 

A source confirmed to the publication that that Brooke has been out of her contract for two years.

Brooke took a break from her role, which she has played for 17 years, to have her sons Mexx and Monroe with her footballer boyfriend, Kean.

A source told The Sun at the time: ‘Brooke has been told there are no plans to kill off the character so she’s free to return any time she wants.

‘Brooke has appeared in almost 1,300 episodes and plays one of the most popular characters of the modern era and is very well-liked and respected as an individual. 

‘The bosses would have her back in a heartbeat but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen for several years at least. 

Brooke’s character Sophie was written out of Coronation Street in October 2019 with a plot line of her going to travelling to Cambodia.  

Brooke’s on screen mother is Sally Dyvenor, who plays Sally Metcalfe, and Michael Le Vell portrays her father Kevin.  

Her on screen sister Rosie Webster, who is played by Helen Flanagan also went on maternity leave back in 2018.
