Cristiano Ronaldo has scored twice for Manchester United on his second debut for the club against Newcastle United.


The four-time Ballon D’or winner bagged 45 minutes into his triumphant return, proudly donning the famous number seven shirt once again.

The goal sparked wild celebrations from the Old Trafford faithful.

After working tirelessly to break the visitors down, Man Utd finally found a breakthrough in the form of the man of the hour on the stroke of half time.

The goal stemmed from Mason Greenwood, who unleashed an effort that took a slight deflection on the way through – wrongfooting Magpies shot-stopper Freddie Woodman.

Just 15 minutes later Ronaldo had another, taking Luke Shaw's pass in his stride while fending off Newcastle's Isaac Hayden before fiercely placing his finish between the legs of Woodman.

His second restored United's lead after Javier Manquillo equalised for Newcastle ten minutes after the interval.

The 36-year-old has ensured the words of his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have rung true, after the United boss explained he wants Ronaldo in the box as much as possible.

When pressed on where he would deploy Ronaldo prior to the game, Solskjaer said: "He is more of a centre forward for me at the moment, I want him in the box, scoring goals."

In the box is exactly where the former Real Madrid and Juventus man was, firing into the back of Woodman's net from a yard out for his first, before nutmegging the keeper for his second.

During an interview with MUTV, Ronaldo revealed: "We will be here on the pitch trying our best and trying to win important things. This is what we are looking for.
