Dwayne Johnson has nothing but high praise for his Jungle Cruise star Emily Blunt

Dwayne Johnson is not shying away from showering praise upon his Jungle Cruise co-star Emily Blunt as we get closer to the movie’s release.

The 49-year-old Johnson appeared during a virtual interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show to promote the movie, in theaters and on Disney Plus with Premier Access on July 30.

The Rock made it clear that they grew quite close during their arduous shoot and he considers her ‘great friends.’

‘She’s super talented. She’s a multi-threat and we became great friends,’ Johnson said during his virtual interview.

‘I love her. I love her family…John (Krasinski), their kids. We’re all one big ohana as we like to say in the islands,’ Johnson added.

Their movie Jungle Cruise is based on the iconic Disneyland ride, which was the first attraction that Walt Disney himself conceived, with Johnson calling it, ‘Walt Disney’s baby.’

He even dropped some history for fans, revealing that when Disneyland opened in 1955, Walt Disney himself was the first skipper on opening day.

Johnson revealed he was, ‘so excited’ to take on this project, revealing he had, ‘one human being in mind to be my co-star, and that was always Emily Blunt.’

He added that he, ‘can’t wait for everyone to see her in this movie, because she truly is the female version of — and this is saying a lot — but she truly is the female version of Indiana Jones.

‘I’m very proud of her and how much she kicks a** in this movie,’ Johnson said in the interview.

The movie follows Johnson’s character Frank Wolff, a wise-cracking riverboat skipper who is hired by Blunt’s Lily and her brother MacGregor (Jack Whitehall) to lead them through the jungle.

The Rock and Blunt are joined by Edgar Ramirez, Paul Giamatti and Jesse Plemons, with Jaume Collet-Serra directing.

After Jungle Cruise, Johnson will next be seen in the star-studded Red Notice alongside Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, arriving later this year on Netflix.

He also recently wrapped filming on the DCEU superhero adventure Black Adam, which is slated for release July 29, 2022.
