Erik ten Hag has stated his desire to win trophies at Ajax amid links with the Manchester United job.

The Dutchman has emerged as one of the leading candidates to take over at Old Trafford following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's sacking.

United's top brass are weighing up their options, having originally planned to get an interim coach in for the remainder of the season.

That could yet change as the possibility of a midseason move for Mauricio Pochettino grows. Should that fail though Ten Hag would again be high on the club's wishlist.

The 51-year-old, who has worked under Pep Guardiola previously, has led Ajax since 2017, and guided them to the last four of the Champions League back in 2019.

Ten Hag has made it clear though that his focus is solely on matters in Amsterdam, stating: “Man United interest? I am busy with Ajax. No one contacted me, I can confirm this. I want to win titles here”.

The Dutchman has won two league and cups doubles at the Johan Cruyff Arena whilst playing a brand of attractive football.

He has also worked with a host of young players, as is often the way at Ajax, including Donny van de Beek.

His comments seems to suggest he has no interest in the Old Trafford hot seat however.

Pochettino meanwhile has also had to field questions regarding his future at PSG and potential interest in the Manchester role.

The Argentine was asked if he plans to see out his contract in Paris and replied: "Football is about the present.

"I said to you all, my contract is until 2023. It's for one season more. I don't say anything different. I am very happy at Paris Saint-Germain. It's a fact. I am happy in Paris"

Pochettino then shut down the discussion: "We are not here to speak about that (United interest). I respect my club PSG. What another club does is none of my concern. I will not comment on it.

"I am happy in Paris. I love the club & the fans. It is wonderful with PSG."

Brendan Rodgers is another man to be touted as a potential successor to Solskjaer following his work at Leicester City.

Carrick, though, will remain in charge for now but has said he will lead the club for as long as they need him.

He said: "I'm ready to help the club for however long I'm needed. And then I'll go back to my job when someone else takes the job. I'm really looking forward to today and preparing the players."
