Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Manchester United marks two very different players – the fresh-faced 18-year-old making his name in football and the well-chiseled legend of the sport who has reached the very pinnacle of excellence.

But that is the exact kind of problem Ronaldo craves and his presence will lift the whole club ahead of an exciting campaign in the Premier League.

His arrival instantly makes the Red Devils one of the favourites to win silverware across all competitions.

Not only does his ability and talent separate the 36-year-old from the rest, but his drive and passion and he has already asserted himself as a leader in the dressing room at United.

According to The Sun, Ronaldo delivering a rousing speech to his new teammates ahead of his second debut against Newcastle – here is every word he said.

He reportedly said: "I have returned to Manchester United for two reasons.

"The first is because I love the club. The second is I love the winning mentality that breeds through the ranks of this club.

"I have not come back to be a cheerleader. If you guys want to succeed, then I need you to love this club from the bottom of your hearts.

"You need to eat, sleep and fight for this club. Whether you play or do not play, you need to support your teammates and always give 100 per cent for the club.

"You are all amazing players and I believe in you, or else I would have not returned.

"The fans will support you, if you give your best. I just want to create a winning mentality, so when I do retire one day, the winning mentality will remain, and this group of players will dominate football, like we did in the past.

"I will do my best for the team but I need your support too. Are you ready to fight? Are you ready to leave everything on the pitch?"

It is added that Ronaldo admitted that United had "taken a fall" since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement.

However, the Portugal international is determined to right those wrongs and take the club back to the summit of the Premier League.

Since the Scotsman left, the Red Devils have not won the Premier League, landing just three trophies in eight years.

But along with Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane as new signings at United, Ronaldo can lead the club to glory.
