EastEnders star Michael Greco has suggested that most Covid-19 cases are 'probably just hayfever ' as he urged followers to focus on keeping healthy.

The 50-year-old former soap star, who portrayed Beppe di Marco until 2002, appeared to imply that the Covid cases are 'probably false positives' and even suggested that people should stop getting tested altogether.

His remarks came just one day after Boris Johnson confirmed that there would be a four-week extension to social restrictions as cases of the Delta variant continue to rise across the country.

Taking to his social media page, Michael went off into a spiel in which he appeared to liken the symptoms of coronavirus to that of hayfever.

Michael Greco doesn't seem impressed that lockdown measures were extended

"If people stop getting tested (probably false positives anyway) whenever they have a runny nose or watery eyes of a slight cough or any very basic, human, bodily symptom, then maybe, just maybe we will come out of this s**t before 2030!!!!" he wrote on Instagram.

"It's probably hayfever anyway. It's not rocket science."

In another Instagram story, Michael also suggested that keeping healthy was the best way of beating the virus.

He then added in a second post: "If you eat well. drink plenty of water. Get regular exercise. Enough sleep. Take vitamin C and D and Zinc. Then your chances of ill health are dramatically reduced. Our food is our medicine. Feed your body not your taste buds."

According to official government data, a further 7,673 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours in the UK, and cases are certainly rising.

Unlike hayfever, coronavirus has the potential to lead to serious health issues and all positive tests should be taken seriously – and isolation adhered to in order to protect loved ones around us.

Michael's thoughts on the pandemic come just a few months after the actor revealed that he was actually going to become a dad for the first time.

The star revealed on social media in February that his girlfriend Helen Harris is expecting a baby.

Speaking to the Loose Women stars the following month, Michael added: "I was overwhelmed when my partner told me, I just burst into tears, I didn't think I would but I did."

He added" "It's funny being a dad in my 50s now, because there are no rules in life, some people have kids when they are younger and some at an older age.

"But what I do know is I am still fit and strong."

Michael and his partner are set to welcome their bundle of joy later this year.
