Good Morning Britain presenter Laura Tobin had to react fast as a hungry penguin got a bit too close as she tried to read the weather on air.

On Thursday’s programme lucky Laura filmed outdoors at Chessington World of Adventures Resort where it was feeding time for the cute penguins.

A member of staff, wearing a face mask, tended to the animals as the meteorologist presented her segment, saying there was much more hot weather to come like there has been all week.

Just as she issued a warning that there is a ‘high percentage chance’ of rainfall over the weekend, one penguin bit her on the leg. Maybe he wasn’t happy with the forecast?

Laura informed viewers live: ‘Over the next few days it is heat and humidity that dominate but then into the weekend it is thunderstorms that will dominate.

‘So at the moment we still have extreme heat warning across parts of Wales and South West England, and for Northern Ireland where yesterday yet again recorded their highest temperature they have ever recorded.’

Coming to end of the forecast she added there are ‘high temperatures into the low 30s’ on the way ‘but it tails off into the low 20s as we head through the weekend and next week.’

Getting interrupted, Laura went on: ‘Percentage chance of rainfall for the next few days is low but from sat onwards it is high…’before squealing as she got nipped.

She said: ‘Ow! I’m haven’t got any…the penguins think I am the food. I’m not a fish!’

Later in the episode she had a go on one of the rides, finishing with a refreshing splash down a water slide.

Laura has been getting up close with nature all week, previously filming at in Shipston-on-Stour where she got to hold a hawk moth and have a cuddle with a duck.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
