Pochettino has been at the Parc des Princes for less than a year and has struggled with the environment.

His family remain in the UK whilst he has had to work with a hierarchy that often take footballing matters, such as transfers, into their own hands.

There is also a huge demand on Pochettino to win the Champions League, something that has so far eluded PSG, and Neville believes a settled environment in Manchester would be quick to turn his head.

"I think Mauricio Pochettino – although he'd never say it – would leave to come to Man Utd on a five-year deal tomorrow," he told Sky Sports .

"He'd look at that group of players, he'd look at the club and he'd realise he'd probably be able to achieve more than he wants at Man Utd in terms of a project.

"At PSG you are on season by season, 'you've got to win the Champions League or you're out'- type of model. I don't think that suits Pochettino.

"I think he would absolutely come to Man Utd on a five-year deal, with backing behind him."

Harry Redknapp, who worked at Tottenham before Pochettino's arrival in 2014, is also in no doubt that he would quit PSG to return to the Premier League.

He said: "Would Mauricio Pochettino leave PSG for Man Utd? Absolutely, I'm sure he would. Without a doubt."

The Argentine has been quizzed on his future at in the French capital in the lead up to Wednesday's clash with Manchester City.

He said: "I'm good in Paris. I know well, all my life as a player or coach I have experienced this kind of situation.

"Things are happening, it's not my responsibility. What I'm going to say if you ask me, I'm good in Paris."

He went on to add: "I am very focussed on football. I am not a kid. I spend my whole life playing football and as a coach. We are in a business where rumours are there. I understand what is going on. The rumours are there. We have to live with that."

The Argentine was also asked if he plans to see out his PSG contract and replied: "Football is about the present.

"I said to you all, my contract is until 2023. It's for one season more. I don't say anything different. I am very happy at Paris Saint-Germain. It's a fact. I am happy in Paris"

Pochettino then shut down the discussion: "We are not here to speak about that (United interest). I respect my club PSG. What another club does is none of my concern. I will not comment on it. I am happy in Paris. I love the club & the fans. It is wonderful with PSG."

Pochettino is seen as a good fit in Manchester, with his style of play suiting the club's traditions.

At his previous clubs the Argentine played exciting and attractive football that won him plenty of plaudits.

During his Tottenham tenure he also gave plenty of opportunities to young players, many of whom he helped improve, which is another key plus for the top brass at Old Trafford.
