Katie Piper reveals crucial advice she’s given to new Strictly star Judi Love

After announcing she is joining the Loose Women panel, Katie Piper has already been befriending her new co-stars – including dishing out some helpful advice to co-star Judi Love as she makes her Strictly debut this month

Katie Piper has recently been announced as ITV's newest Loose Woman.

The star has opened up about the attack that she went through when her boyfriend at the time threw acid at her in 2008 which left her with permeant scars and blindness in one eye.

Since then the 37-year-old has gone through surgery to restore her face and vision.

Katie appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2008 where she was was paired up with professional dancer Gorka Marquez.

Since then Katie has recently released a book 'A Little Bit of Faith' which is now available online and in book stores.

Congratulations on becoming a Loose Woman!

I’m thrilled. Loose Women was a big bucket list thing for me. It’s a good opportunity to be authentic – ITV doesn’t push you to have a certain view, it wants you to be diverse. On some TV shows, you have to be careful what you say, but that’s not the case here.

Is there anything your husband Richard has asked you not to talk about?

No [laughs]! But his life is so different from mine. He works on a building site and never watches daytime TV.

Have you given any advice to your Loose Women colleague Judi Love for Strictly?

I told her the costumes are skimpy so shave your legs right up to the top, and your bikini line!

What’s the inspiration for your new book, A Little Bit Of Faith?

During lockdown I thought, “What can I offer on my Instagram that’s positive and people don’t have to pay for?” In 2015,
I wrote my first affirmation book, so I decided to read out a daily affirmation. I then broke down the affirmations and explained how I apply them to my life.

People started sending me their affirmations and we’d check in with each other. I wanted to write a follow-up affirmation book that reflects what we did on Instagram. I’ll never stop being grateful that people want to read what I write.

Do you draw on these affirmations when you’re going through a tough time?

Yes, we actually use it as a family book [Katie has two children, Belle, seven, and Penelope, three]. My eldest reads them out. She doesn’t always fully understand them so then it opens up a conversation.

What do you struggle with most?

Finding balance and managing ill-placed guilt. I give myself to my charity 100% and then neglect other things in my life and vice versa. I promised myself after the pandemic I wouldn’t go back to 16-hour working days. I don’t think you can have it all and I don’t want other people to think I do. It’s a lot of juggling!
