Kelly Clarkson nearly cried when nanny gave the single mom the gift of time for Mother’s Day

Between being a single mother for nearly two years, serving as host of her successful daytime talk show, among other television endeavors, and being chart-topping singer-songwriter, time is a precious commodity for Kelly Clarkson.

So it makes perfect sense that Clarkson would get emotional when the nanny to her two young children, with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, presented her with a special Mother’s Day gift that involved having her schedule wiped free of any responsibilities.

‘I’m a single mom, so I’m either at work or I’m with kids,’ Clarkson began, when asked how she spent her mom’s day in an interview with Extra, adding, ‘I literally almost cried — like, she walked into the kitchen and was like, “Hey, for Mother’s Day, I’m going to give you the gift of time and you can just do whatever you want.”‘

Nearly broke down with joy: Kelly Clarkson, 40, revealed she almost shed some tears when her nanny gave her the gift of time for Mother’s Day this year

During the interview, which took place during the finale of NBC’s American Song Contest, Clarkson was joined by her co-host Snoop Dogg, who couldn’t have agreed any more about time being a precious commodity for any parent.

‘No one understands how important time is,’ the legendary rapper chimed-in on the subject.

It Turns out the Since U Been Gone star didn’t have any grand celebration for Mother’s Day this go-around, and instead went with the idea of the gift of time that was presented by her nanny.

‘I had the best day, it was amazing and I love her,’ Clarkson said of the nanny and her much-needed break, albeit brief, from being a hands-on mom.

Single mom: ‘I’m a single mom, so I’m either at work or I’m with kids,’ Clarkson began, when asked how she spent her Mother’s Day in an interview with Extra; she has been co-parenting her daughter River, seven, and son Remington, six, since splitting with her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock in June 2020

Clarkson, 40, started dating Blackstock, 45, who’s the son of her former manager Narvel Blackstock and former stepson of Reba McEntire, in 2012.

They ended up getting married at Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tennessee the following year.

Their daughter arrived in the summer of 2014, while their son would make his arrival on Planet Earth in the spring of 2016.

Emotional: ‘I literally almost cried — like, she walked into the kitchen and was like, “Hey, for Mother’s Day, I’m going to give you the gift of time and you can just do whatever you want,”‘ the talk show host said of her reaction to her nanny’s offer of taking her kids off her hands on Mother’s Day this past Sunday; Clarkson and her two kids are pictured in September 2018

But sadly, in June 2020, Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock, citing irreconcilable differences, which came nearly a year after The Kelly Clarkson Show made its premiere.

Three seasons into its run, the show has garnered six Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Talk Show Entertainment, as well as Clarkson winning Outstanding Talk Show Host in 2020 and 2021.

Having just been nominated for nine more Daytime Emmy Awards earlier this month, the daytime talk show and the host are up for the same awards again this year.
