It turns out he got the date of the get-together wrong, and that the dinner was for the following Monday.

Living up to his Curb You Enthusiasm character, which he plays himself, David responded to Kimmel being at a funeral: ‘Hola s**t. Hahaha,’ which got an equal amount of laughs from the two of them and the audience.

Off the cuff: David living up to his Curb You Enthusiasm character, which he plays himself, and responded to Kimmel being at a funeral: ‘Hola s**t. Hahaha’

Unique sense of humor! The host made sure to point out that David wrote, ‘Hahaha,’ in his response to Kimmel being at a funeral at the time David was outside his house

David went on to reveal that he thought Kimmel had tried to pull a practical joke on him by not being at his house for the scheduled dinner.

‘I thought I was getting punked, and I thought “I’m never going to do that show ever again,’ he continued, in a reference to the late night talk show.

The story didn’t end there. When the following Monday came around, the day of their actual dinner date, David didn’t show up. With his arms out wide and a big beaming grin on his face, David shot back: ‘I got it up once to do it, you know. I couldn’t go the second time.’

Acknowledging he did try the first time around, Kimmel shot back: ‘You made the effort.’

It’s at this point that David asked him: ‘Do me a favor, try it again,’ for which Kimmel agreed, ‘because I never have people to my house.’

David followed up by assuring his the host: ‘But you’re not getting invited to my house.’

David told Kimmel that his dinner date mishap would make for a ‘Good panel for the next time I’m on,’ which was a reference to the story being good fodder on the talk show

‘And you’re right exactly, it worked out,’ Kimmel said in agreement with the final text, about the dinner date mishap being a good topic to tell on Kimmel’s talk show

Funnyman: David also joked about when he missed an appointment with his doctor

‘I don’t write anything down,’ the two-time Emmy Award winner confessed. ‘I think I’m smart enough to retain it in my head: “Oh dinner with Jimmy on Monday; oh it’s in my head,” I noted it in my head. But, you know, it doesn’t work out that way.

David then gave an example of when he forgot to show up for a doctor’s  appointment.

‘God forbid you forget a doctor’s appointment, which happens,’ he said with a sarcastic, but funny tone to his voice. While leaning back in his chair, he began to joke about how doctor’s can get really offended by missed appointments.

‘Oh the doctor. Oh, the doctor’s precious time was wasted. Oh, oh, oh, the doctor. And then you get calls from the doctor’s assistant for the next two weeks to remind you that the doctor was upset that you didn’t show up
