Lee Ryan has denied he is transphobic or homophobic following a foul-mouthed attack on a drag queen over gender identity.

The Blue star, 38, called Layla Zee Susan – Sammy Shepherd – a barrage of nasty names after sharing a video to his Instagram account where he declared that he may start identifying as an "anything but human".

After viewing the clip, Layla sent the star a private message and questioned whether he had thought about the his fans who are non-binary's feelings before posting the footage.

The drag queen asked: "Do you think this is a bit insensitive to your fans that do choose to identify as something outside of the gender binary?"

While Lee responded with a host of unpleasantries, the singer has staunchly denied he is transphobic or homophobic.

Speaking to The Sun, he said the conflict made him "really upset and angry" because he'd knows what it feels like to be disrespected so wouldn't do it to others.

He said: "I'm bisexual and my bandmate is gay – I would never disrespect anyone like that.

"I normally ignore things like that but it’s like somebody calling me racist when I’m not. Duncan’s constantly dressing in drag, he’s gay, Blue has a big [gay] following – so this really upset me.

"Some of my best friends are gay. I didn’t say one thing about him being in drag."

Lee's messages to the drag queen were shared on social media, prompting his initial angry response.

He was seen to have commented: "F**k off c**t. Does that offend you?"

Layla then asked the All Rise singer: "Have you been hacked perhaps? What a shame," and posted more grabs to Instagram stories.

But pop star Lee fumed: "No, I just can't stand little opinion c**t like you who think your opinion matters to me."

Continuing his rant, Lee added: "I never mentioned anything about gay or binary or anything. Little mug. I’m talking about star seeds and indigo children. You f*****g melt."

Lee continued throwing expletives in the direction of Sammy as the drag queen kept sharing the singer's responses.

And Lee called out Sammy for being a troll.

"You wouldn't say s**t to my face because you're a keyboard troll," he said.

"I never said s**t about non binary or gay. I said I don't like being a human mostly because of little f*****s like you who shove your opinion down people's throats and think you're entitled.

Last year Lee hit back at trolls who mocked him for putting weight on.
