A Champions League winner, a title winner and now a member of the Premier League’s illustrious 100 club, Mohamed Salah wrote another piece of history into his Liverpool career on Sunday.
The forward brought up a century of goals in the Reds’ 3-0 victory over Leeds, becoming the 30th player to reach the landmark since the top flight’s re-branding in 1992.
Ninety-eight of his goals have been scored in the red of Liverpool while two came during his brief stint at Chelsea.

The Egyptian King will soon overtake Matt Le Tissier, who ended his career with 100 goals, and he only needs 20 more to equal the total scored by former Reds skipper Steven Gerrard.
He has some way to go to overthrow all-time leading scorer Alan Shearer, who managed 260 during his career, while Tottenham’s Harry Kane is 66 goals ahead of him.
But Salah is the fifth fastest player to make the 100 milestone, with the 29-year-old needing just 162 games to reach a century.
That puts him just behind Thierry Henry, who scored his 100th Premier League goal in 160 matches.
Sergio Aguero needed 13 fewer games, with the former Manchester City star netting his 100th in his 147th match.
That leaves Kane and Shearer in the top two. Kane took 141 games to reach 100 goals while Shearer needed just 124.
‘Mo’s records are crazy,’ Jurgen Klopp said after the match at Elland Road.
‘Since he joined us… what a player. And he’s still hungry. He was still not happy for not scoring one or two others, that’s how top class players are.’

QUICKEST PLAYERS TO REACH 100 PL GOALS
Alan Shearer – 124 games
Harry Kane – 141 games
Sergio Aguero – 147 games
Thierry Henry – 160 games
Mohamed Salah – 162 games
Salah’s achievement is even more impressive when you consider he plays on the right of a front three, rather than through the middle. The four players above him on the list are, or were, out and out centre forwards.
However, Salah has taken over from James Milner as Liverpool’s regular penalty taker in the last two seasons and 14 of his goals have come from the spot.
But having said that, this is no more than Kane, who also scored 14 penalties on his way to 100 goals. It is also less than Henry (15) and Shearer (18).
In fact, the forward’s most prolific season in the top flight came in 2017-18, when he took just one penalty for the club – which he missed.
That season he scored 32 goals in 36 games and ended the year with the golden boot.
His tally dropped by 10 goals in the following campaign as Sadio Mane stepped up with a greater contribution and in 2019-20, Liverpool’s title-winning season, he netted 19 times.
While Liverpool struggled at times during the 2020-21 season, Salah still managed 22 goals and his efforts helped secure Liverpool a place in the top four.

The forward already has three in four games this season but his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations from January to February will disrupt his and Liverpool’s campaign.
Salah’s goal against Leeds saw Ian Wright drop out of the top five for fewest games needed to reach 100 goals.
The Arsenal legend took 173 games to bring up a century, with 15 of his goals coming from the penalty spot.
Below Wright is another Liverpool legend, Robbie Fowler, who needed 175 matches. There are several more former Reds in the 100 club including Michael Owen, Peter Crouch and Emile Heskey.
Owen scored his 100th goal in his 185th Premier League game and he managed a further 18 for the Reds before joining Real Madrid in 2004.

Crouch’s 100th top-flight goal came while he was playing for Stoke City in 2017, having managed 22 during his time at the Reds. He needed 419 games to reach the landmark.
Heskey also brought up his century after leaving Liverpool. The forward, who scored 39 goals for the Reds between 2000 and 2004, netted his 100th while playing for Wigan in his 414th top-flight game.
Gerrard, of course, scored all of his 120 goals for Liverpool and reached his century in 449 games. Out of the 30 players in the 100 club, only Ryan Giggs took longer to reach the landmark.
The former Manchester United man needed 534 games but did not score any of his goals from the penalty spot.
Other players in the 100 club who are still playing include Jamie Vardy, Romelu Lukaku and Jermain Defoe.
Vardy has a total of 120 goals, six more than Lukaku, who is on 114. Defoe, who is currently playing under Gerrard at Rangers, managed 162 during his time in the top flight.

The Egyptian could still become Liverpool’s all-time leading Premier League scorer if he commits his long-term future to the club
Salah still has some way to go to catch the former England international but if he commits his long-term future to Liverpool, there is every chance he could reach those figures.
Klopp confirmed the club are in talks over a new deal for Salah, whose contract expires in two years.
The Egyptian needs 64 more goals to overtake Fowler as Liverpool’s all-time leading Premier League scorer. Across his four seasons for the Reds, Salah has averaged 23.75 goals in the league.
Three more campaigns of the same level of consistency and he could soon be breaking more records.
