Liverpool vs Burnley – Premier League: live score, lineups and updates

Liverpool are hunting a first league victory in over a month as they host Burnley in Premier League action on Thursday night at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s out-of-form side have not scored a goal in their last three league games, the last of which was a goalless draw against Manchester United, and the champions are currently fourth in the table, seven points off leaders United.

Burnley, meanwhile, are 17th in the table and will be looking to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat at West Ham at the weekend – they managed to claim a point at Anfield at the back end of last season.

Sportsmail’s Kieran Jackson will provide live coverage of Liverpool vs Burnley including build-up, team news and in-game updates.

43 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley – LIVERPOOL HIT THE CROSSBAR!

What a chance for Divock Origi!

Ben Mee makes a mess of his pass back to Pope and Origi is in on goal – but his shot rattles the underside of the crossbar and out!

He has to score really – and Liverpool’s wait for a goal in the league goes on!

41 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

Lovely move from left-to-right by Liverpool and as Alexander-Arnold cuts inside, Charlie Taylor blocks superbly!

The Burnley full back also clears from the subsequent corner.

39 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

Burnley’s Ashley Barnes is the first player in the book for a late challenge on Thiago in the centre of the park.

38 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

Trent Alexander-Arnold finds himself on the left – he cuts in and shoots with power but it sails harmlessly over the bar and into the Anfield Road stand.

35 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

Burnley have a free-kick out wide on the left and from McNeil’s delivery, the ball finds Brady at the back post whose dragged shot is simple for Alisson at this near-post.

Nevertheless, Sean Dyche will be very happy with what he’s seen so far…

32 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

De ja vu here!

Mane finds Origi, who cuts in and shoots with more purpose this time – but straight at Pope!

Pressure slowly but surely building…

29 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

Bit of space opens up for Origi this time outside the box – his shot is accurate in the corner, but hasn’t quite got the power and Pope manages to hold onto it.

27 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

Brady is late with a challenge on Robertson and Liverpool have a free-kick out on the left…

However, Mike Dean spots an infringement in the middle and Burnley have a free-kick of their own.

Still struggling for any real tempo here the champions.

23 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

Better from Liverpool.

Mane swivels just outside the box and tees up Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, whose shot is powerful but straight at Nick Pope.

22 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

Few corners in a row for the hosts… and then Xherdan Shaqiri goes close!

Burnley clear their lines, before some space opens up for the Switerzerland international – he cuts in from the right and fires a wicked left-footed shot which is just wide of Nick Pope’s left-hand post!

19 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

It certainly hasn’t been the case of a lightning quick start by the out-of-form champions…

Burnley look very comfortable, with and without the ball, while the Reds look one-paced in attack.

No chances to speak of in the last five.

13 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

Opening for Burnley!

Alisson can’t hold on to a looping cross into the box and Barnes strikes with the keeper well off his line – but the Brazilian recovers well to smother the shot!

11 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

Another classic case of the linesman not putting his flag up until after the phase of play is complete here…

Ashley Barnes is played in and eventually gets a shot underway which is comfortable for Alisson down low to his left.

Solid start from the visitors.

7 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

Chance for Liverpool from a corner!

Sadio Mane wins the header at the near-post from Alexander-Arnold’s out-swinger, but Fabinho can’t quite react quickly enough in the six-yard box!

Burnley put the ball behind for another corner, which is more comfortably dealt with.

4 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

Early chance to load the box for Burnley from a set-piece but Liverpool cope with the threat well and clear their lines…

KICK-OFF: Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

We’re underway at Anfield – Burnley in their yellow away kit tonight!

The players are out at Anfield!

Sean Dyche, speaking to Sky Sports:

– ‘I think earlier in the season we had a number of injuries, we settled down in the defensive side of things. We are looking for that balance, done the right things on a couple of occasions.

‘The chance count can only show so much, we haven’t always taken chances. But we have 14 points in our last nine games, stats and facts will suggest we will score goals.

‘A lot of people will suggest that (it’s a good time to play Liverpool). They’ve still got some very good players and have put out a strong side. They’ve got other players who can operate from the bench.’

Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports:

– (On whether Salah and Firmino are rested or dropped) ‘Neither nor. It’s just reaction to the quality in the squad which we have to use. We play every three days, we have to make changes.

‘Hendo is not in the squad, he felt a little – it’s not serious but he couldn’t make it tonight. But the other two changes are because Divock, Shaq and Ox just trained well all week and we have to show that. It will be a very very intense game tonight, we have good options on the bench.

‘You can only change things by doing and staying clam, especially in front of goal. That’s the most important thing. It’s not easy in this business because everyone talks about you every day.

‘Staying calm is a challenge and I’m not worried, I want us to play really good in games. It’s a game where it’s difficult to play really good, they defend so well. They can annoy you and these kind of things, in counter attacks and set pieces too.’

Nick Pope makes his 100th start for the Clarets tonight!

A landmark night for the Burnley goalkeeper.
