Made In Chelsea’s Ollie and Gareth Locke are told their surrogacy isn’t viable in emotional scenes

Made In Chelsea returned for its 22nd season on Monday night and left viewers ‘heartbroken’ as Ollie Locke and his husband Gareth were filmed hearing the devastating news that their surrogate had failed to get pregnant.

The couple – who married on the show nearly a year ago – had announced last series that they were embarking on a journey to have a child together, flying out to Mexico with their surrogate.

But in emotional scenes on the series 22 premiere, the couple spoke to her on the phone, and learnt that it had been unsuccessful.

Devastated: Made In Chelsea returned for its 22nd season on Monday night and left viewers ‘heartbroken’ as Ollie Locke and his husband Gareth were filmed hearing the devastating news that their surrogate had failed to get pregnant

Gareth had already been struggling with his emotions as they sat in their kitchen awaiting the call.

‘I am so nervous. I was wildly pragmatic until now and now my emotions are high – now we’re here, I’m on the brink of tears. I’m going to be so disappointed…’ Gareth said. ‘We’ve done so much and waited so long and I’m ready to be parents now…’

‘I’ve been telling strangers in Sainsbury’s that we’re pregnant!’ Ollie said.

‘Darling we don’t shop in Sainsbury’s,’ Gareth retorted.

Sad: The couple – who married on the show nearly a year ago – had announced last series that they were embarking on a journey to have a child together, flying out to Mexico with their surrogate

The phone then rang, with their surrogate heard on speakerphone, sounding upset.

‘I’m not great. I’m so sorry, it didn’t work,’ she says through tears. ‘I’ve done five different tests – they’ve all come back negative.’

Gareth and Ollie reassure her, telling her they can try again, as she sobs over the phone.

‘100 per cent, it’s what I want. This is the biggest thing that I really want to do for you guys,’ she replies.

‘The adventure continues,’ Ollie reassures her, as he and Gareth burst into tears.

Ollie later goes for a walk with Liv Bentley, telling her how he’s feeling.

‘It’s been a horrific 24 hours. You Build it up. I loved those babies already, even if they weren’t there.  They didn’t arrive, they just went,’ he tells her.

‘It will happen, I know it will. I’ll be there. Whenever!’ Liv says.

The couple later head out for a picnic together, with Gareth telling Ollie: ‘This kid –  you’ve already pictured what they’re going to be like, but they’re not there!

‘How can you not go into it, thinking its not going to work. It’s devastating!’

Ollie says: ‘I want you and I to move forward. We want to be dads!’

Gareth replies: ‘You are so reassuring that we are so ready to be dads…’

Fans posted to Twitter while watching the scenes unfold. ’15 mins in and I’m sobbing already. I feel for Ollie and Gareth so much!’ one tweeted.
