Marcus Rashford has reportedly held private talks with Cristiano Ronaldo and put himself through triple training sessions as he does everything he can to get himself out of his current slump.

.

The Manchester United forward has gone 11 games without scoring as he struggles to adapt to Ralf Rangnick's style of football.

The England international put in one of his worst performances of the season during United's 1-0 win over Aston Villa in the FA Cup third-round tie, prompting criticism from former United assistant Steve McClaren.

But Rashford has disputed claims that his commitment to the club is not 100 per cent as he tries to get things back on track.

And it's been reported that he is going to extreme lengths in order to do so.

Rashford, 24, is continuously picking the brains of Ronaldo on his nutrition and muscle mass, asking the Portugal star exactly what he was doing when he was his age, according to The Telegraph.

The academy graduate is also taking part in triple training sessions, spending 12 hours a day at the Carrington base, to turn things around.

It's claimed Rashford is 'upset' at the criticism thrown his way that suggests his poor form is down to effort and a bad attitude.

If anything, he believes he cares about the club too much and on occasions and has taken on too much responsibility, sacrificing himself for United.

There have also been claims that Rashford has not responded positively to Rangnick's arrival as he struggles to adapt to his philosophy – something which he also disputed.

The Athletic claims Rashford was enthused by the German's appointment and receptive to his style, but admits it has taken time to get used to his philosophy, admitting he has struggled with his changing formations and limited opportunities to play.

Former England boss McLaren questioned Rashford's attitude and body language in the wake of the Aston Villa result.

He told talkSPORT: "I hate that attitude in a player. Body language is so, so important and that was the criticism of United players in the last few weeks.

“But Rashford has probably had this problem throughout his career, in terms of questioning his attitude.

"He gets deterred too easily and doesn't fight through bad moments. He doesn't stay in the game.

“If he's not having a good first half, he'll never have a good second-half.

“Somebody needs to give him the tools to come out of the bad times because he doesn't know how to and stays in it.”

McClaren also suggested Rashford needs help to get his head right by seeking professional help if he is to emerge from his current slump.

“The help is there in modern football,” added McClaren.

“He [interim United boss Ralf Rangnick] brought in a sports psychologist. He’s got the talent and the ability.

“There’s that one cornerstone which we call mentality, attitude, which he hasn’t grasped yet.

“There are certain tools with which you can come out of bad times, so you play one bad pass and don’t make it two or three.

“You get back to playing simple again. But a player needs to admit first that he’s in the wrong, has a bad attitude and needs help.”
