Not just anyone gets the honour of being invited to attend the Met Gala.

The bash is usually held on the first Monday of May but was postponed to September 13 this year due to the pandemic.

There is a strict guestlist for the event held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and at the helm of deciding who is able to attend is American Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

The fashion guru has been in charge of the list for the fundraising event since 1995 and tickets are only allowed to be purchased by those given Anna's approval.

And the invitations come with a hefty price tag of $30,000 (£23,000), while tables cost $275,000 (£211,000).

All of the money from ticket sales is donated to the Costume Institute, which is the only department of the Met Museum that has to fund itself.

The ticket cost includes a cocktail party and a guided tour throughout the exhibition which is then followed by a dinner and performances from top music acts.

This year the A-listers, including Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Billie Eilish, Jennifer Lopez, Whoopi Goldberg and Justin and Hailey Bieber, were served a chef-curated vegan menu – and a snap of some of the meal was shared online revealing that the soggy greens left a lot to be desired.

Actress Keke Palmer exposed the measly salad offered to guests as she live-streamed the event for Vogue with Ilana Glazer.

The snap showed what appeared to be some risotto, tomatoes mixed with pieces of sweetcorn, as well as a few slices of cucumber and one mushroom.

Mocking the plate, she typed: "This why they don't show y'all the food. I'm just playinnnn."

MailOnline report that the photo was the remains of a meal made by Two Michelin starred Aquavit chef Emma Bengtsson and Junghyun Park, who runs ATOBOY NYC.
