Comedian Michael McIntyre has revealed the secret of his 14lbs weight loss: Epsom salts.
He detoxed at the gruelling Mayr clinic in Austria with pal Paul Tonkinson in February 2017, where he was “starved” on soup and crackers and endured the salty cleanse.
Michael says of the £2k-per-week retreat: “You drink the Epsom salts first thing and then within 20 minutes, the whole of the clinic – which is full of wealthy fat people – are all rushing to the lavatory.”
He says he was left “hollow” afterwards. And there followed an unfortunate incident during a woodland hike, where Paul – who lost 20lbs and “nearly died”, according to Michael – suffered the consequences of his cleanse… So the pair packed up and left.

“I had enough,” he tells the Table Manners podcast. “I lost a stone – we were only there six days. I was so emotional, depressed and confused and Paul was skeletal.”
On hearing they were off Paul “burst into tears, he was so grateful”.
Due to Covid, restrictions, instead of his Big Show, Michael will front The Wheel on BBC1 in November where celebs “sit on the end of a wheel and answer questions”.

“It turns out no one needs to be near each other,” says Michael.
