Molly-Mae Hague has been the subject of many headlines recently after receiving backlash following comments regarding everyone having the same 24 hours in a day.

The former Love Islander first found love on the hit dating show and has since been able to grow her following and land huge work deals.

The 22 year old recently became PrettyLittleThing's Creative Director, which some think it a publicity stunt but Molly-Mae insists she worked hard to achieve.

It isn't the first time the star has been hit by controversy, being trolled for past filler mistakes, claiming she doesn't like certain foods and missing lavish getaways.

Here are some of the controversial moments Molly-Mae has experienced:

Tone-deaf poverty remarks

Molly-Mae was brutally slammed from followers over her podcast comments

The most recent backlash Molly-Mae has gone through is after appearing on a podcast and claiming 'we all have the same 24 hours in a day' and putting her fame and fortune down to hard work.

Followers didn't agree with the comments and highlighted that not everyone has the same opportunities due to the background they've grown up in.

She said: "You’re given one life and it’s down to you what you do with it. You can literally go in any direction.

"When I’ve spoken about that in the past I have been slammed a little bit, with people saying ‘it’s easy for you to say that because you’ve not grown up in poverty, so for you to sit there and say we all have the same 24 hours in a day is not correct.’ But, technically, what I’m saying is correct. We do.

"I understand we all have different backgrounds and we’re all raised in different ways and we do have different financial situations, but I think if you want something enough you can achieve it."

The star went on to post an apology on her Instagram where she said she didn't make the comments with any 'malice or ill-intent'.

Bashing Italian food

The star called the food 'shocking'

Molly Mae took to her Instagram to apologise over her 'controversial' comments

After spending a few days in Italy back in 2020, Molly-Mae expressed that she wasn't enjoying the food on her getaway.

At the time, she posted to her Instagram that despite loving the area she was in, the food wasn't up to scratch.

She said: "I absolutely loved Venice but one thing I will say about Italy in general… The food is actually shocking.

"So controversial I know but I’ve been a lot of times now to different parts and I’ve tried a lot of different restaurants and I’m always so disappointed.

"It’s meant to be the home of pizza and pasta and I really can’t see how! Strange. Even this ice cream was grim."

Following receiving multiple DMs about her comments, she went on to apologise for her remarks but admitted a lot of her followers had agreed with her.

Missing lavish getaways

Molly-Mae missed going on trips away

Molly-Mae is used to going on luxury trips

During the first Covid lockdown back in 2020, Molly-Mae was feeling the strain as she was missing her usual lavish getaways.

At the time, she'd been locked up in her luxury Manchester apartment with her boyfriend Tommy Fury but she admitted she was 'missing spontaneous nights away in London… and a tanned face'.

She took to Instagram at the time posting a photo of herself smiling from ear to ear while holding a huge bunch of red roses along with a pricey designer bag.

May 2020 saw the UK in lockdown, with then-Health Secretary Matt Hancock urging Brits they'd not be able to get away for summer.

Filler mishaps

Molly used to have fillers in her lip, chin and cheeks

Nowadays Molly-Mae tends to go for a more natural look, having had her face filler and veneers removed.

However, during her Love Island days she sported more of an enhanced look, including one time being trolled for excessive filler.

At one point a photo went viral of Molly-Mae having just had her facial procedures, and the star admitting herself that she took it too far.

But last year she decided to have all her filler removed as well as her composite bonds on her teeth removed, which she admitted has left her looking prettier than ever.
