Paloma Faith sent Jessie J a powerful message of support after the devastated singer revealed she had suffered a miscarriage.

The 33-year-old singer took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the sad news, as she told her 10.5 million followers doctors discovered there was “no longer a heartbeat” during a scan.

Jessie, real name Jessica Cornish, confessed the “sadness is overwhelming” as she detailed the distress over losing her baby, and said she was going to go ahead with a gig that same night because she needed to “process” her grief in her own way.

The Domino hitmaker received thousands of supportive messages from her famous friends and fans, and fellow singer Paloma Faith bravely shared her own experience of miscarriage in the comments as she praised Jessie.

“Jessie you are 100% doing the right thing,” the 40-year-old wrote, as she supported Jessie for wanting to get back on stage despite her heartbreak.

“I had a miscarriage on a film set where I was filming and I just kept filming… You get your joy from singing and you need your joy more than ever,” Paloma continued.

“You will and should have a baby… Women are amazing!” she sweetly added.

Paloma is mum to two children with partner Leyman Lahcine, and their second child was born earlier this year after the singer underwent six rounds of fertility treatment.

While she didn’t comment further on what movie she had been involved in at the time of her miscarriage, Paloma starred in the US superhero drama prequel series Pennyworth in 2019, in which she played villainess Bet Sykes.

Jessie has previously spoken about her own struggle to fall pregnant, and during a concert in 2018, she told the audience that doctors had said she might never be able to have children.

She touched on those issues in her lengthy caption, as she revealed she had “decided to have a baby on my own” and would continue to keep trying.

“To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget and I know I will have again,” she wrote, adding that having a baby was “all I’ve ever wanted and life is short”.

“I also know millions of women all over the world have felt this pain and way worse. I feel connected to those of you I know and those of you I don’t,” Jessie added. “It’s the loneliest feeling in the world.”

She hit out at those who suggested she should cancel her show after suffering a miscarriage, and said she needed to feel joy after her devastating loss.

“I started singing when I was young for joy, to fill my soul and self love therapy, that hasn’t ever changed and I have to process this my way,” Jessie wrote.
