Hilton arrived in Washingon on Tuesday and made an appearance at the White House alongside husband Carter Reum, 41.

She has been on a quest to get the government to provide better oversight of what are called congregate care facilities, which range from foster care facilities to boarding schools advertised to wealthy families to manage troubled teens.

During a trip to D.C. in October, Hilton chronicled her own abuse starting at age 16 while living in a congregate care facility, the Provo Canyon School in Utah.

The White House told DailyMail.com Paris was ‘on campus as part of her advocacy efforts to improve protections of youth residential programs and facilities.’

‘She met with policy staff where she and other survivors shared their powerful stories and discussed issues pertinent to the protection of institutionalized youth in America,’ a White House official also told CNN.

And on Wednesday she held a press conference where she touched on her own experience at the Utah treatment center, recalling how she was sleep-deprived, overmedicated and forced to submit to random midnight gynecological exams while male staffers watched.

The socialite then called for the passage of the Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act which would increase reporting and oversight of these institutions and put an end to what she said was a ‘tragically overlooked children’s human rights crisis.’
