Paul Merson is predicting a number of home wins this weekend in the Premier League

Carrick earned a victory in his first game in temporary charge, but Merson believes that winning start will come to a crashing end in the capital on Sunday.
“I can’t see anything but a Chelsea win here,” Merson told Sportskeeda. “They’ll squeeze and dominate the game, and they’ll probably have about 70 per cent of the ball. Manchester United will set up with Ronaldo up front, and he’s not running away from anybody.
“I’ve seen Manchester United come to Stamford Bridge and win comfortably last season. They need pace on the wings, and they need a player like Cavani to press Chelsea high up the pitch. As it stands, however, I think Chelsea will break them down comfortably.”
PREDICTION: Chelsea 3-0 Man Utd
Meanwhile, Arsenal look to get back on the horse when they face Newcastle at the Emirates on Saturday lunchtime.
The Gunners saw their long unbeaten record emphatically ended by Liverpool last weekend and will hope to put pressure back on the top four with a win.
Merson said: “I would expect Arsenal to get back on the horse against Newcastle,” Merson explained. “They proved that they’re flat-track bullies last weekend.

“They’ve played a game apiece against the top three and they’ve been completely and utterly blown away this season. It is a worrying sign, but they have been winning games that they are expected to win.
“Newcastle didn’t get a particularly great result against Brentford the other day, but they did have a good game. Their fans want to see good football from them, but I don’t see them troubling Arsenal this weekend.
“Arsenal were on a 10-game unbeaten streak before Liverpool ended their purple patch. Newcastle showed signs of improvement against Brentford but will find it difficult to keep Arsenal at bay.”
PREDICTION: Arsenal 3-0 Newcastle United
Man City overcame PSG in the Champions League in midweek

In another enticing fixture, Manchester City, fresh off a win over Paris Saint-Germain, take on West Ham at the Etihad.
The Hammers saw their top-four challenge take a hit last week, losing 1-0 to in-form Wolves and will be looking to repeat the trick which saw them take three points off Liverpool earlier this month.
“West Ham beat Liverpool this month, but lost what should’ve been a run-of-the-mill game against Wolves,” Merson continued. “That’s been the problem with them this season – they’ve found out that it’s easy to get into the top four, but the hardest thing is to stay there.
“Manchester City dominated the game against PSG this week and were ripping them to shreds for the most part. They didn’t score too many goals, however, and that is their Achilles’ heel. West Ham are going to set up on the counter with Fornals and Antonio, but I can’t see them beating Manchester City.”
PREDICTION: Man City 2-0 West Ham

Liverpool sent out a title statement with victory over Arsenal at Anfield and Merson expects them to follow that up with another routine home victory.
He said: “I don’t see Southampton being able to live with Liverpool this weekend. Jurgen Klopp had a bit of a blip against West Ham, but his side came back strongly with a comfortable 4-0 victory against an in-form Arsenal side last week.
“Liverpool have far too much quality for a Southampton side that failed to get the better of Norwich in their previous game. Klopp should be able to guide his team to another comprehensive victory this weekend.”
PREDICTION: Liverpool 3-0 Southampton
