Cristiano Ronaldo has emerged as a surprise target for Manchester City while his future is still yet to be decided.
The Juventus forward has just one year left on his contract in Turin but has been linked with a move away this summer after the Serie A club failed to defend their title.
Manchester United are linked with the Portugal international but are days away from confirming the £73million signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and are now targetting a centre-back.
Pep Guardiola's Manchester City could certainly afford Ronaldo, and in the past, the Citizens boss has spoken positively about the idea of having a player like the five-time Ballon d'Or winner in his squad.

"We don't have a single player who can win a game, we don't have a Cristiano, a [Lionel] Messi, a Neymar," said Guardiola. "We don't have these types of players who can win games by themselves. I told the players many times, you have to play as a team.
"I will be honest. I'd like to have a player to score, every single game, four goals and run like these players can run. I would love it."
Ronaldo is yet to address the speculation surrounding him this summer and will likely remain at Juventus for at least one more season before deciding his future.

He has in the past discussed playing for United's bitter rivals Man City and admitted it would be very hard for him to do.
"To play for City, not United? I'm not going to do that. Why? Because my heart's in Manchester United, that's why," said Ronaldo.
"I can say it would be very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very difficult to play at Manchester City. Very difficult because of Manchester United."
Manchester City are in the market for a new striker after parting company with Sergio Aguero after 10 years.
The Citizens are linked with Dortmund star Erling Haaland and Tottenham forward Harry Kane, but both individuals would set the Premier League champions back more than £100million.
