Robert Lewandowski ‘was OFFENDED by Bayern’s pursuit of Erling Haaland’ amidst contract stalemate.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has been left offended by Bavarian club’s pursuit of Erling Haaland, according to German outlet Bild via Mundo Deportivo.

Bayern had been targeting the Norwegian forward before the 21-year-old’s £51 million move to Manchester City.

The Polish striker’s current contract expires in 2023, and with negotiations on a new deal stalling, several top European clubs are monitoring his situation closely.

Mundo Deportivo claims that Lewandowski no longer feels valued at the Bundesliga Champions and that the forward would be open to move away after eight years.

According to Bild, Bayern had been pursuing Haaland until last weekend, before the Norwegian forward rejected their advances in favour of City.

However Bild reports that Bayern remain confident of retaining the services of Lewandowski, and plan to reject any offers for their man over the summer.

Haaland’s £51 million move to City comes after an impressive 21 goals in 23 Bundesliga games

Haaland has been the cause of several rifts with important players at big clubs unhappy with their team’s pursuit of the forward.

Ousmane Dembele was previously unhappy with rumours of Barcelonais interest in signing Haaland.

Dembele, 24, is still locked in talks with Barcelona chiefs over a contract extension with his current deal set to expire at the end of the campaign.

Barca boss Xavi remains determined to keep hold of Dembele and negotiations have been positive since it was reported that the attacker was seeking an exit.

Barcelona’s interest though may have cooled since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s 11 goals in 15 games, which may see them target other areas.

With reports now suggesting Bayern have set their sights on Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, Lewandowski’s unhappiness looks set to continue.

Reports in Germany emerged on Monday night claiming that Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic met Mane’s representatives in Majorca last Friday.

Lewandowski’s 34 goals in 33 games so far have helped Bayern lift their tenth consecutive title
