Celebrity Big Brother star Shilpa Shetty has spoken out for the first time since her husband, Raj Kundra, was arrested on suspicion of producing pornography.
The Bollywood actress was herself reportedly quizzed by police after Kundra, 45, was taken into police custody in Mumbai, India last month, with authorities claiming they have ‘sufficient evidence’ that he is a ‘key conspirator’ in a porn production ring.
In a Twitter post shared on Monday morning, Shetty described the recent days as ‘challenging on every front’ before targeting the ‘rumours and accusations’.
She added: ‘A lot of trolling/ questions posed…not only to me but also to my family.
‘My stand… I have not commented yet and will continue to refrain from doing so on this case as it is subjudice, so please stop attributing false quotes on my behalf.
‘Reiterating my philosophy, as a celebrity “Never complain, never explain”. All I will say is, as it’s an on-going investigation, I have full faith in the Mumbai Police & the Indian judiciary.
‘As a family, we are taking recourse to all our available legal remedies.’

Shetty, 46, then asked the public to ‘respect [their] privacy for the sake of the two children she shares with Kundra. The couple, who married in 2009, share son Viaan, nine, and daughter Samisha, who they welcomed in February 2020.
The actress continued: ‘[I] request you to refrain from commenting on half-baked information without verifying the veracity of the same.
‘I am a proud law-abiding Indian citizen and hardworking professional for the last 29 years. People have put their faith in me & I’ve never let anyone down.’
‘So, importantly I request you to respect my family’s and “my right” to privacy in these times. We don’t deserve a media trial. Please let the law take its course,’ she concluded.
It was previously reported that Shetty had spent six hours at a police station where she was questioned to establish if she was involved in the racket.

Officers are said to have raided the couple’s home on Juhu beach on Friday. Shetty was not arrested or charged and, according to Daily Mail, she has denied any involvement in the alleged offences.
Reports have alleged police seized 48 terabytes – with one terabyte being one million megabytes – of ‘mostly adult’ images and videos from the star’s home in a raid.
During questioning, Shetty is alleged to have told police she was ‘unaware of the exact nature of the content’ but believed her husband was innocent.
Kundra has also denied any wrongdoing.
Mumbai Police Commissioner, Hemant Nagrale, confirmed the businessman’s arrest in a statement which said: ‘There was a case registered with Crime Branch Mumbai in February 2021 about the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps.
