Simon Cowell, 61, cuts a casual figure as on beloved bike wearing winter coat and shorts

He’s often seen being chauffeured in a luxurious Rolls Royce.

But Simon Cowell, 61, has a soft spot for zipping about on his e-bike.

The music mogul cut a casual figure in a black jacket and white shorts as he nipped out in West London on Saturday in the summer heat.

Simon is likely to be happy to be on the move again after breaking his back last year, recently describing it on Instagram as ‘the worst thing that’s ever happened to me’.

Last August, Simon was rushed to hospital to undergo six hours of surgery after injuring himself in an electric bike accident accident.

The accident happened just steps from his Malibu home in August, as he crashed in the courtyard of the estate.

‘Simon has broken his back in a number of places’ a spokesperson said after the fall.

But the record executive has been determined to do everything he can to ensure he makes a full recovery, including walking for several hours a day and holding business meetings at 9AM so that he no longer lives like a ‘vampire’.

Of his new fitness regime, a source told MailOnline: ‘Simon said how he hasn’t worn trainers as much as this in 20 years.

‘He feels fitter than ever before and is keeping to a normal routine rather than being on the phone until into the early hours of the morning.’

And Simon has been making the most of his better health and the easing of lockdown restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic, stepping out with the likes of Amanda Holden, 50, David Walliams, 49, and Alan Carr, 45, earlier this month.

The record company boss enjoyed a fun dinner with his pals and partner Lauren Silverman, 43 – who he shares son Eric, seven, with – with snaps of their night shared to Instagram by Amanda.

David also took to social media following their night out, posting a funny snap of himself cuddled up to his Britain’s Got Talent co-star Simon. He cheekily captioned the photo: ‘True love.’
