Sinead O'Connor admitted to hospital just days after son's tragic death at 17

Shane had been found dead on January 7 after going missing.

It comes after Sinead told how Shane had planned his own funeral a month before taking his own life.

She had attacked the mental health authorities who had been charged with looking after him, before apologising and taking back her comments.

Sinead, who changed her name to Shuhada Davitt in 2018, told earlier this month how her son had tragically taken his own life after a struggle with his mental health.

She tweeted on Saturday: "My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God.

"May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace."

He had been missing since the Thursday before and police had launched an appeal to help find him.

Earlier this week, Sinead shared details of her son's funeral, explaining she will follow his requests.

She said Shane will, as he requested, have a Hindu ceremony with only her and his father, Donal Lunny, in attendance.

She explained: "Fyi. Shane was Hindu. So the funeral will be just his mother and father. This was also the wish Shane expressed in his suicide notes."

She also told fans where they could send flowers or other items in tribute to her son if they so wished.

She tweeted: "If you’re going to send anything to the mortuary at Loughlinstown hospital pls send flowers or Hindu objects. Shane O’Connor."

She added: "Alternatively flowers or Hindu objects can be sent to Newlands Cross crematorium. I believe the ceremony is to be on Thursday."
