Aside from the nominations for the two main actors, the show also received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble and Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

The popular Korean Netflix series – which revolves around 456 players participating in deadly children’s games as they fight to win the main cash prize – was an instant hit after its September 2021 premiere and quickly smashed streaming records.

The nine-episode show became Netflix’s best series debut ever, eventually reaching over 3 billion minutes streamed.

The show’s main protagonist Lee Jung-jae, 49 – who plays Seong Gi-hun on the series – told the publication he believes the recent popularity of Korean content is due to high-quality material and great directors.

‘I think we are at a point where the quality of Korean content has improved greatly based on a lot of talented directors and all of the crew that are involved,’ he said.

I’m also reminded of our Best Stunt Team, being nominated for the best stunt ensemble nomination. I send all the love and thanks to the best stunt team ever who made sure all of us were safe on the set.’

The model and actress then joked that she was simply happy to know that her photo will appear alongside Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Elisabeth Moss, and Sarah Snook.

Last year Hwang revealed that he was beginning the process of working on the second season of the show, though it has not yet been confirmed by Netflix.
