Steve Carell masks up and gets back to work as he’s spotted on the Los Angeles set of The Patient

Steve Carell rung in the new year by getting back to work, spotted on the set of his new FX limited series The Patient.

The 59-year-old actor was spotted getting into his trailer on the Los Angeles set of the new show on Wednesday afternoon.

The show was given a series order back in October for 10 episodes, hailing from The Americans creators Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg.

Carell was spotted wearing a white Polo dress shirt under a grey cardigan sweater as he was spotted heading back to his trailer.

He was also wearing a black face mask covering his mouth and nose on the set, as the COVID-19 omicron variant continues to send cases surging in Los Angeles.

The actor completed his look with brown pants and brown shoes for his day on the set of his new show.

The half-hour limited series follows Carell’s character, Alexander Strauss, a psychiatrist who recently lost his wife and has not yet come to terms emotionally with his pain and loss.

His already-tumultuous life is turned upside down when gets held prisoner by a dangerous serial killer with an unorthodox request: cure him of his murderous desires.

While he tries to help this killer Strauss also starts delving into his own repressed feelings that creates a rather tumultuous environment.

‘We are excited that Joe and Joel are back with their next series for FX after the great experience of working with them on six amazing seasons of The Americans,’ said Eric Schrier, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement back in October.

‘Their creative instincts and mastery of plot and character are on display again with The Patient, which will showcase Steve Carell’s remarkable talents as an actor, producer and creative collaborator,’ he added.

Fields and Weisberg will write and executive produce The Patient, with Carell also executive producing with Caroline Moore and Victor Hsu.

Carell recently returned as Mitch Kessler on the second season of Apple TV Plus’ hit drama series The Morning Show.

He will also return to voice Gru in the highly-anticipated animated sequel Minions: The Rise of Gru, in theaters July 1. 

It was also recently teased by The Office co-creator Greg Daniels that a reunion special may happen featuring Carell, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson and more.
