Strictly pro Jowita Przystal will COMPETE against her The Greatest Dancer mentor and pal Oti Mabuse

They formed a close bond after taking part in the Greatest Dancer in 2020.

And new Strictly Come Dancing pro Jowita Przystal is now preparing to compete against her former mentor Oti Mabuse, 30, as she joins the talented lineup for the next series of the hit BBC show.

Oti, who is the current reigning Glitterball champion alongside Bill Bailey, mentored the Polish star, 26, and her dancer partner Michael Danilczuk in the talent contest, helping them scoop the winner’s trophy and the prize of performing on Strictly.

During their time on The Greatest Dancer, Jowita and Oti became good pals, with the Strictly champion gushing about the talented star on Instagram.

Last March she penned: ‘Tonight @michael_jowita take @greatestdancer floor for the last time. You have been nothing but impeccable in my eyes.

Talented! Under the Strictly Champ’s mentorship, Jowita won the talent show in 2020, and the prize of performing on Strictly Come Dancing (pictured with dance partner Michael Danilczuk)

‘I am so proud of you and how much you’ve taken on this show and this new world and given you’re absolute everything.

‘In 6 weeks we’ve formed a friendship and you’ve shown me and proven that with hardwork anything can be achieved and there are no limits when you want to achieve something as long as your heart is in it.

‘@jamezbennett thank you for your late nights of planning, laughing, preparing and being so involved in all of #otisquad (also for being the strict one) lol.

‘I just freaking adore you! to all 3 of you—- this is been an unforgettable ride, now go out there and DANCE YOUR HEART OUT.’

So proud! During their time on The Greatest Dancer, Jowita and Oti became good pals, with the Strictly champion gushing about the talented star on Instagram

Jowita was left lost for words when asked how she felt about being cast in the latest series of the dance competition.

She said: ‘This is my biggest dream come true. No words can describe how I feel right now.

‘I’m still pinching myself to check if this is real but I am beyond excited to be joining the Strictly Come Dancing family and I can’t wait to give all of my heart and soul on that dance floor!’

The newcomer started ballroom dancing at the age of 12 and is a Polish Open Latin Champion 2014.

Supportive: Jowita’s partner Michael also shared his excitement for her to join Strictly with a gushing Instagram post

Staying in touch: Since winning the show, Michael and Jowita have remained close to Oti and even wished her a happy birthday. Oti replied in the comments, ‘I love buddy sooooo much’

So much talent: The newcomer started ballroom dancing at the age of 12 and is a Polish Open Latin Champion 2014 (left, with Oti and Michael at a The Greatest Dancer photocall in 2020)

In 2015 she ended her competitive Ballroom and Latin career to join the cast of touring dance company, Burn The Floor, where she stayed for four years before moving to the UK in 2019.

This touring production also saw Jowita work with Strictly stars such as Kevin Clifton and Karen Hauer.

Jowita’s partner Michael also shared his excitement for her to join Strictly with a gushing Instagram post.

He wrote: ‘I am so ecstatic to share with you all that my Babe made her biggest dream Come True. She is now one of the NEW PRO DANCERS on @bbcstrictly 2021.

Welcome! Jowita joins Nikita Kuzmin, 23, Kai Widdrington, 25, and Cameron Lombard, 20, as the new professionals confirmed for the 2021 series of Strictly

Excited! All four newcomers – including Jowita – shared the news with their Instagram followers

‘I am super proud of You @jowitaprzystal . You are the most hardworking person on this planet and I know you will be outstanding. I know how much this means to you.

‘I love you from the bottom of my heart and I know everyone will see what I see in you! Time to SMASH IT BABE!’

Also set to join the very talented line-up for 2021 is Six-time Latin and Ballroom National Champion in Italy professional Nikita Kuzmin, 23, and Kai Widdrington – who appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2012 aged 16 and made it to the final.

Looking to earn another dancing crown, reigning South African Latin Champion Cameron Lombard has also been named by the BBC as one of the new Strictly pros.

Departed: The Strictly line-up was left thinner for this year after Anton Du Beke (left) stepped into a judging role and Janette Manrara (right) decided to leave the show

Cameron has won eighteen national titles across Ballroom and Latin during his decorated dance career. He started competing aged 6, and within a year he was already winning local and regional competitions.

In 2012 he was a finalist on South Africa’s Got Talent and in 2019 he represented South Africa at the World Championships.

The four new dancers join the existing line-up of professionals which includes: Aljaž Škorjanec, Amy Dowden, Dianne Buswell, Giovanni Pernice, Gorka Marquez, Graziano Di Prima, Johannes Radebe, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Luba Mushtuk, Nadiya Bychkova, Nancy Xu, Neil Jones, and Oti Mabuse.

In June, it was revealed that the show’s longest-serving pro Anton Du Beke would step into Bruno Tonioli’s shoes to act as judge alongside Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood.

The BBC confirmed Anton would make the step up to a judging seat this year for the entire series following a successful two-week stint as a panellist last year.

He will replace Bruno, who will not be able to take part in the 19th series due to the ongoing uncertainty regarding travel restrictions caused by COVID-19.

Around the same time, Janette Manrara, 37, also announced that she’d quit as a professional dancer on Strictly after eight years in order to be Zoe Ball’s replacement on It Takes Two.

The Cuban-American dancer will join co-host Rylan Clark-Neal on the BBC2 spin-off show on weeknights, during Strictly’s upcoming series.

Strictly Come Dancing returns for its 19th series this autumn on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
