In one of his regular appearances on Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4, Anton said: "It’s only family of the contestants that are in the studio anyway. As for bubbling, you sort of are bubbling anyway, during the week you’re just with you partner rehearsing in a studio by themselves…

"Even [in studio] you’re sort of bubbled off in your own dressing room and all the team come to you, they’ve all the gear on… There’s no communal space."

Addressing McFly's Tom and professional Amy – who has publicly stated she is vaccinated – having to isolate, Anton said: "They’ve just got a bit unlucky really."

Steph’s Packed Lunch resident chef and Strictly contestant John Whaite also chimed in during the chat.

He told that he feels "really safe" on the show and that they have hardly any contact with anyone apart from their partners.

John said: "Producers have contingency plans for any kind of Covid scenario. I genuinely do feel safe there, we’re not in contact with anybody. Hair and make-up come to us, they’re in full PPE and I just wish Tom and Amy all the best."

A BBC spokesperson revealed the news about Tom and Amy this week in a statement which read: "Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden have tested positive for Covid-19."

"The pair are now self-isolating separately following the latest government guidelines.

Tom let fans know he was okay though after posting a positive comment on Strictly partner Amy's Instagram post.

Amy had told her followers: "Unfortunately, Tom and I have tested positive for Covid-19.

"I’m not suffering any symptoms but am now isolating at home.

"I have no doubt that over the next 10 days my mind will be going crazy with choreography ideas ready to get back on the strictly dance floor for the live show in week 3!

"Thank you for all of the support and good luck to all of the couples this week. I will be cheering you all on!"

In the comments section, Tom wrote: "Rest up partner. We've got to pull something special out of the bag for week 3."
