Russell Martin admits conversations over potential free transfers are happening on a daily basis at Swansea City – but says he hasn't spoken to former team-mate Robbie Brady.

Martin has already had some joy with free transfers, having snapped up former Celtic star Olivier Ntcham, who looks set to be a key part of his plans this season after producing a solid debut in the 0-0 draw with Hull City at the weekend.

The Swansea boss has previously admitted that the club are continuing to monitor unattached players with a view to bolstering his squad before the January window, and says he's already received a number of approaches from agents and player representatives.

"I'm getting texts from agents every day. I'm getting texts from agents every day and I'm sure Mark Allen is as well," he said.

"But it has to be right for us. The longer that goes on, the less likely it will be to do anything because it becomes really difficult for players the longer it goes without having any club.

"But we did it at MK, with Cameron Jerome, Andy Surman, people like that. People I knew. People without clubs, and they did brilliantly for us.

"If we believe someone comes up, and they can add to the place on the pitch or off the pitch, then it's something we'll look at.

"The owners have been brilliant with that. Mark's been great. But until then, we'll just have to wait and see."

One of the players available is Martin's former Norwich City team-mate Robbie Brady, who's unattached after being released by Burnley this summer.

Reports last month had suggested that he might be ready to make the move to Turkey, but he hasn't yet signed on anywhere at this stage.

Given their history, many fans are already putting two and two together, with social media awash with suggestions that he might be a player of interest to the Swans.

But Martin has seemingly ruled out the possibility of a move – for the time being at least.

"I love Robbie as a guy. He's brilliant. Fantastic player. Been in the Premier League for the last however long," he said.

"But I haven't spoken to him. I haven't spoken to him for a while, being honest.

"So there's nothing in that at the moment. He's a good player. Really good player, but I just think we've got a lot of players at the moment, we just need to work out who's going to fit in and who's going to really be with us over a long period of time.

"If it was different timing, then I'd possibly be telling you that I'd be really interested in it, but at this moment in time, there's nothing there."
