The Voice: Ariana Grande admits to feeling out of place by singer Lana Scott as Top 11 perform live

Ariana Grande admitted that she felt out of place after country singer Lana Scott performed Monday on The Voice on NBC.

The 29-year-old singer from Chesapeake, Virginia, belted out Hope by Gabby Barrett and impressed Ariana, 28.

‘I feel like I’m not on The Voice right now. I feel like I’m at the Lana show,’ Ariana told her afterward.

Lana’s coach Blake Shelton, 45, declared that she just had her break out moment. Blake said he knew that she was going to kill it even before she came out.

She was one of 11 performers who battled it out on the show performing songs that the fans had picked for them.

Power house singer Wendy Moten, 57, from Nashville, opened the show. Before she took the stage, her coach Blake told her that the fans had picked Aretha Franklin’s Freeway Of Love song for her to sing.

Wendy shared that she never expected such overwhelming fan support. Country artist Vince Gill called her and said what he always wanted was for everyone to hear her sing. Even Melissa Etheridge tweeted out support for Wendy.

Blake said he wasn’t surprised because when Wendy sings that she ‘blows the roof off the place.’

After her emotional performance, Ariana told Wendy that she honored the tremendous song that she sang.

John Legend, 42, wearing a pink suit with a white shirt, told Wendy she was a flawless vocalist.

Next, the Girl Named Tom family trio from Pettisville, Ohio, performed. The trio on Kelly Clarkson’s team thanked their fans from their town for rallying behind them. Their fans picked the song More Hearts Than Mine by Ingrid Andress for them to sing.

When they finished, Blake told them that when they came together in harmony that it was something really special. Coach Kelly, 39, wearing a pink feather and crystal embellished dress, said it was such a blessing to work with them.

Terrific trio: Next, the Girl Named Tom family trio from Pettisville, Ohio, performed the song More Hearts Than Mine by Ingrid Andress

Team Ariana’s pop singer Holly Forbes, 32, from Catlettsburg, Kentucky, went next. She told Ariana the she received the key to her city after performing on the show and Ariana asked if she could come visit. Ariana said the fans had picked the song Alone by Heart for Holly to sing.

Holly told Ariana that the song had special meaning for her because the first time she went out for karaoke with her now fiancé she sang this song. 

Holly, wearing a black sequined outfit with a black hat, blew the crowd away. Ariana, wearing a grey strapless dress with long black gloves, told her that she was ‘phenomenal.’

Soul singer Jershika Maple, 25, from Killeen, Texas, from John’s team said she was grateful to be in the show’s top 11. She said that so many fans have already reached out to her after she told them about her dyslexia.

The fans picked Lisa Fischer’s song How Can I Ease The Pain for her to sing. Fans from Australia introduced Jershika , who wore a fitted purple sequined dress for her performance.

Jershika told show host Carson Daly, 48, that she was so nervous before she came out that she almost threw up.

Team Legend pop singer Joshua Vacanti, 28, of Lockport, New York, went next. His fans picked the Queen song The Show Must Go On.

Team Kelly’s passionate pop singer Jeremy Rosado, 29, from Tampa, Florida, was the next performer. Kelly told him that his fans had picked the song Reckless Love by Cory Asbury.

Gymani, 23, Team Kelly’s powerful singer from East Point, Georgia, then took the stage. The fans picked Rihanna’s song Diamonds for her.

Queen song: Team Legend pop singer Joshua Vacanti, 28, of Lockport, New York, went next with a Queen song

Passionate singer: Team Kelly’s passionate pop singer Jeremy Rosado, 29, from Tampa, Florida, was the next performer and sang Reckless Love

Rihanna song: Gymani, 23, Team Kelly’s powerful singer from East Point, Georgia, then took the stage and sang Diamonds by Rihanna

All four coaches were on their feet when she finished. Ariana said that she did a beautiful job of making the song her own and she was ‘shining like a diamond’ herself.

Jim and Sasha Allen, a father-son duo from Newtown, Connecticut, on team Ariana sang Have You Ever Seen The Rain by Creedence Clearwater.

Blake told them both after their performance that their bond was incredible. The country star asked Jim if there was an instrument that he didn’t play and Jim quipped that he didn’t play the stock market.

Team Blake’s soul singer Paris Winningham, 33, of Jacksonville, Florida, said he called his fans his family for all their support. They picked the Bill Withers song Use Me for Paris to perform.

‘I would pay money to see Paris sing anytime,’ said John. ‘It is just so thrilling every time you sing.’

Hailey Mia, 14, from Clifton, New Jersey, on Team Kelly closed out the show. She said that her fans picked Elastic Heart by Sia for her to sing. Hailey, wearing a long yellow strapless dress, sang her song as a cellist accompanied her on stage.

Kelly said that she was a dark horse contender and that she kept getting better each week.

The Voice will return Tuesday night on NBC with a results show and the elimination of one contestant.
