The Voice: John Legend saves his own singer Samara Brown after she loses Battle Round on NBC show

John Legend used his save to win back his own singer despite both Ariana Grande and Kelly Clarkson attempting to steal her away on Tuesday’s episode of The Voice.

Samara Brown, 32, from the Bronx, was moments away from being off the NBC show when John, Kelly and Ariana stepped in to save her.

The coaches all stood up after Samara and Britney Bree, 26, from Monroe, Louisiana, battled it out singing Aretha Franklin’s ‘Something He Can Feel’ and gave them a ovation.

Ariana, 28, said they were both great.

Before they even took the stage John’s advisor Camilla Cabello, 24, wearing a brightly colored jumpsuit, shared with them her experience of being in a singing competition and told them not to change too much of the song with extra riffs.

When the show’s host Carson Daly, 48, announced that Samara was available to steal, Kelly, Ariana both pressed their buzzers to steal and John tried to stop them with his save.

‘I was first,’ said Kelly.

Blake told Samara that he thought John, who was wearing a black camouflage print motorcycle jacket, hesitated, but John said that they knew exactly what he planned to do.

Ariana and Kelly both argued for Samara to join their team, but John pleaded. He told her that he really liked working with her.

‘I will feel so blessed and fortunate to continue coaching you and I hope you pick me, please,’ John said.

Besides the battle over Samara, there were other amazing competition moments in the show. Team Blake’s singer Lana Scott, 28, from Chesapeake, Virginia, battled with Hailey Green, 15, from St. Martin, Mississippi. They were coached by Dierks Bentley and given the song ‘Girl’ by Maren Morris.

John told them they were both such great singers that he knew it wasn’t going to be an easy decision to pick between them.

Later when they performed, Kelly told them ‘I actually thought it was the perfect song for both of you.’

Ariana, who was wearing a pink fringed midriff baring outfit, told them they both were so amazing.

Blake ultimately decided that Hailey, who plays linebacker in her school’s football team, was the winner of the battle. He said he was intrigued by her voice and because she was so young.

Then just when Lana was walking off and saying her ‘goodbyes’, Blake decided to use his own save to keep her in the contest.

Ariana brought her advisor Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth and introduced her to two of her team members Katherine Ann Mohler, 22, from Memphis, and Vaughn Mugol, 27, a registered nurse who grew up in the Philippines but now lived in Texas.

Katherine said that Ariana was such an idol that she even dressed up like her for a past Halloween. Ariana gave them the song ‘Dilema’ by Nelly and Kelly Rowland to sing.

‘I love this pairing,’ Kristin said. Ariana said she knew the song was a ‘curveball.’ She met them at stage rehearsals to encourage them to sing to each other and not just to the audience.

Before they took the stage, Ariana told them she loved them and after they finished she stood up clapping. John told them he thought it was cool that Ariana took them out of their comfort zone in doing this song.

‘That was so good,’ Ariana told them. She told Katherine that she really ‘surprised the hell’ out of her.

Ultimately, Ariana chose Katherine and said later that Katherine really stepped out of her comfort zone and she had to go with her.
