American comedian Tiffany Haddish has been arrested for Driving Under the Influence and was allegedly found asleep at the wheel by police.

The 42-year-old comedy actress was discovered by police in Peachtree City in the State of Georgia in the early hours of Friday morning.

The star was arrested by police who had responded to reports of a driver being asleep at the wheel – but she has since been released after posting a bail fee.

A mugshot photo of Tiffany – who has starred in a string of top Hollywood films including Girls Trip and Like A Boss – has circulated online showing the star smiling for the police cameras.

TMZ reports: “Cops were responding to a call for a driver who'd fallen asleep at the wheel. Officers had a description of the vehicle and were on the lookout for it when they spotted Tiffany pulling into a neighborhood.

“They stopped her and arrested her for DUI and improper stopping on a roadway. Cops believe she'd smoked marijuana.”

Their report adds that Tiffany posted $1,666 (£1,218) bail and was out of jail by 6:30am after being arrested at 4am.

PageSix have also reported that Tiffany had allegedly been smoking marijuana before her arrest.

They reported: “The standup comic has been open about her recreational drug use.”

“In 2017, she revealed she once got very high and invited pals Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith to a swamp tour she purchased on Groupon.

“However, this time, her alleged smoking led to a very different outcome as she was reportedly booked for a DUI and improper stopping on a roadway.”

The Mirror have contacted a spokesperson of Tiffany for comment in relation to the arrest and the allegations made against her.

Tiffany has been dealing with a string of tragedies in recent weeks – with her beloved grandmother, who had raised her, passed away.

Her friend, actor Bob Saget, also passed away this month, as did music producer Carl Craig, and her pet dog also recently passed away.

“I love you and I will keep you in my memories and heart R.I.P.”
