Tom Brady tells Oprah Winfrey he’s ditching his diet to indulge this Thanksgiving

Tom Brady will be enjoying the ultimate cheat day this Thanksgiving.

The quarterback ordinarily adheres to a very restrictive diet, but plans on completely breaking it for the upcoming feast.

‘Just like everyone else,’ Tom, 44, said during an interview with Oprah Winfrey on his SiriusXM show, Let’s Go! ‘That’s the one meal where I’m just like “Screw it, let’s go for it.” We all get to enjoy it.’

‘Screw it’: Tom Brady plans on ditching his strict diet for Thanksgiving

But unlike millions of Americans, Tom will be busy with football practice for most of Thanksgiving and will only be able to spend a few hours with his family.

‘Thanksgiving, there’s a lot to be thankful for, but you only get four hours to enjoy it,’ he said. ‘Practice usually ends at about 1 or 2. You eat about 3:30, then you’re getting ready for next day of practice. Same with Christmas.’

The pro athlete, who has two children with Gisele and one with ex Bridget Moynahan, is ‘looking forward’ to his post-football life when he can enjoy the holidays with his family.

‘I’m looking forward to the time when I’m done playing football, so I can have those more normal holidays that I had growing up that were important where the family’s all together.’

Tom’s upcoming Thanksgiving feast will certainly be a departure from his famously strict diet.

Tom avoids caffeine, white flour, white sugar, dairy products, and gluten, according to the NY Post. He also steers clear of vegetables which have the potential to cause inflammation.

His personal chef, Allen Campbell, previously described Tom’s restrictive diet in an interview with Boston.com.

‘No white sugar. No white flour. No MSG. I’ll use raw olive oil, but I never cook with olive oil. I only cook with coconut oil. Fats like canola oil turn into trans fats…. I use Himalayan pink salt as the sodium. I never use iodized salt,’ Allen said in 2016.

‘[Tom] doesn’t eat nightshades, because they’re not anti-inflammatory. So no tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, or eggplants. Tomatoes trickle in every now and then, but just maybe once a month. I’m very cautious about tomatoes. They cause inflammation.

‘What else? No coffee. No caffeine. No fungus. No dairy.

‘The kids eat fruit. Tom, not so much. He will eat bananas in a smoothie. But otherwise, he prefers not to eat fruits.’

But in a 2019 interview with Men’s Health, Tom said he wasn’t especially strict about his meals.

‘I have a friend who freaks out if it’s not the most organic this or that, and I’m like, “That stress is going to harm you way more than eating that chip is.”‘

Asked about his ‘favorite cheat meal’, the quarterback rolled his eyes.

‘If I’m craving bacon, I have a piece. Same with pizza. You should never restrict what you really want. We’re humans, here for one life. What’s changed as I’ve gotten older is now if I want pizza, I want the best pizza. I don’t eat a slice that tastes like s**t and then wonder, Why am I eating s**t pizza?’
